Spent the last few days looking over some old posts going back over the last year and I didn't see this pic anywhere. Maybe I've missed it but I don't see it.

As a kid I was never sure who this guy was. As I got a little older I wondered why this guy had Wolverine's haircut. Batman: TAS I learned all about him. And then I thought it was OK he had Wolvie's haircut. Sure wish Liam Neeson had his hair for the movies. Here's hoping he returns in the third movie with it.

PENGUIN

Probably my least favorite character of all the Dark Knight's foes. Somehow he is an essential character if you go through the entire rogues gallery. Not sure why. I would figure if you asked any random person walking down the street to name five Batman bad guys, he would be among them. Anyone know a really awesome Penguin story? A comic, cartoon, or TV show? Tim Burton's version was as close as it gets I think. Is it possible to have an awesome Penguin story? Maybe I have it all wrong.

FACING THE UGLY TRUTH

Batman & Clayface. Never knew anything about Clayface until Batman: The Animated Series. Matt Hagen's fall and transformation to the horrific Clayface was really incredible. His ability to transform into anyone was super cool...and kinda gross. I had never seen anything like it in a cartoon back then. As this show did with most all of Batman's villains, you went away thinking maybe they weren't completely bad people to begin with. Some really bad stuff happened and then things just took a turn for the worse and they couldn't real it all back in. I mean, no one ever really sets out to be the bad guy right? Kinda like Anakin Skywalker never intended to be Darth Vader? This is an older pic I did sometime ago. Still one of my favorites. I think the orange-brownish color and the blue and green of Batman really contrast give the image an extra pop.

BATMAN ROGUES

I've read a lot of Batman comics. Seen a lot of Batman cartoons. Frank Miller and Paul Dini pretty much set the standard as far as I am concerned. The Dark Knight Returns pretty much turned my world upside down as a kid. First time I read it was right around when the first Tim Burton flick came out. As cool as that was and as huge as the Bat-wave was that consumed the planet I washed ashore with the Frank's Batman instead. My best pal Roger got it and said I should read it. That was it. Until Batman: The Animated Series just really kicked me in the head every weekday afternoon a few years later. I knew the villains and new the stories but both of these versions of the Batman I consider to be the definitive sources for all things Batman. Here I jumped back into watercolors after being away from them for a few years. I cranked my iPod with Hans Zimmer and got lost for a few days.
